Dream it.

The goal of this project is to create anti-online harassment software in collaboration with girls, young women, and gender-diverse individuals aged 15-25.

This project was conceptualized with the vision of fostering a safer digital environment for all individuals, especially those who are disproportionately targeted for online harassment and abuse. By actively engaging and representing the affected groups, the project seeks to mitigate the negative impacts of online harassment on the well-being and online experiences of these individuals.

About the project.

MAKE IT.

We are creating a tool that uses technology to stand up against online abuse in real time. We are making this tool using feminist participatory action research, natural language processing, generative artificial intelligence (AI), and machine learning.

AI Ally will work like a friend on social media that you can "add" or "follow." It will detect online abuse, support victims, challenge abusers, and connect users with human moderators. Our goal is to create a supportive and proactive solution to combat online abuse.

SHARE it.

This project will have a peer-led multimedia production team that will create infographics and educational resources based on research findings. These resources will be shared through a social media campaign. Additionally, the project will culminate in a three-day hackathon hosted by Girl Geek Academy.
